Halloween Otome is an upcoming game by Synokoria. The demo is available at this post. There is also a LSF topic for the game.
Story: The MC (name changeable) wins a radio contest in which she receives an exclusive ticket to a two-week Halloween vacation. The event is hosted by a famous actor, and most of the invitees are celebrities. Guests are required to remain in costume and work with other guests in groups to compete for fabulous prizes.
Characters: The MC, pictured above, is reserved but friendly. She’s on of the few invitees that isn’t a celebrity, so at first she hesitates to join in. However, once she gets comfortable, she becomes more assertive. She’s sweet and considerate, and she LOVES food.
The MC is teamed up with three other teammates, the love interests. They are also pictured above.
- Mr Bandages - A mummy who models. He’s disinterested, rude, and cold. He’s arrogant and can’t keep mum about his own abilities.
- The Count - A vampire who daylights as an actor. He’s friendly and flirty, and he’s great at negotiating.
- Mr. Wolf - A shy and skittish canine who has a hard time fitting in with the celebrity pack.
In case you are wondering, there are times where the characters do appear out of costume.
Gameplay: VN mixed with mini-games. The mini games are things like sliding picture puzzles, mazes, and other fun things.
The mini-games are actually incorporated into the story. If you successfully complete the mini-game, then your team in the game completes their competition and are awarded points. You have the option to skip the puzzles, but it will affect the story. For example, if you decide to skip the first mini-game, then your team loses their competition and your other teammates will be upset with the MC. There is also the option when starting the game to toggle the mini-games off, and the outcome of the mini-games will be randomized.
There are also choices, a lot of which affect who the MC has scenes with.
Art: The demo has a CG gallery. The sprites are cute, and I like the style. Along with different facial expressions and poses, the sprites also blink.
Final Thoughts: I already thought the idea and the art were cute, so I went into this demo with a bias for it. I wasn’t disappointed. For a demo, it’s also quite long. It’s a good amount of game play, plus you get to try two of the mini-games. All the guys are very unique from each other, so there’s a type for everyone. And the MC is cute and likable. The creators hope to have it completed by the end of the year, and I look forward to playing the full version!
Can we also romance that sexy dork of a host too!? I love his look!
